I delved into the culinary world of Roy Choi for my academic project in magazine article layout, creating a design that serves up the rich narrative of his journey with as much flavor and fervor as the dishes he crafts. Drawing from the vibrant street culture that Choi embraces, the design of the layout aimed to reflect the eclectic and energetic environments from which his food truck empire was born. My inspiration came from the streets themselves—colorful, full of life, and stories that unfold in the bustling urban backdrop.

The layout was designed to guide readers through Choi’s story with a mix of urban visual elements and captivating photography, ensuring each page turn was as engaging as Choi's approach to cooking. Skills in typography were honed to ensure the text was readable yet dynamic, much like the graffiti on a city wall. Image placement, white space utilization, and color schemes were meticulously considered, balancing the article's narrative flow with visual appeal. Through this project, I developed a deeper understanding of editorial design, enhancing my ability to create layouts that are not only informative but also immersive, inviting readers to step into the world of the subjects they are reading about.
